We are delighted to announce the launch of the new ISVPS Nurse Certificate (NCert) in Feline Nursing, which is also available as a Veterinary Technician Certificate (VTCert) and a Veterinary Paraprofessional Certificate (VPPCert). The qualification has been designed to help nurses working in both general and referral practice extend their knowledge and skills.
Working together with our accredited training provider Improve International, the online feline nursing course has been developed to cover the fundamentals principles of nursing feline patients in detail, as well as recommendations as to how to adapt practice procedures to optimise feline care and welfare.
Commenting on the launch of this new qualification, Director of ISVPS, Dr Sheila Wills BSc BVetMed CertSAM DipECVIM-CA MRCVS said:
“Cats are a remarkable species and are often poorly understood in terms of their behaviour and needs especially within the practice environment. As an RCVS Recognised Specialist in Feline Medicine, I am delighted with the launch of the new ISVPS NCert in Feline Nursing, which will offer incredibly valuable skills and knowledge for anyone working with cats. It is a wonderful opportunity for veterinary nurses to improve their understanding of the behaviour and hence their approach to the feline patient together with gaining a deeper understanding of feline medical and surgical nursing. This combined approach will greatly enhance the provision of compassionate care for our feline patients”.
The eight-module training course leading to this new qualification begins in July 2022 with modules being delivered every other month over 14 months. Each module is made up of four sessions of separate lessons, allowing delegates to work through each module at their own pace. Full details of the course leading to the new NCert, VTCert or VPPCert is available on the Improve International website at www.improveinternational.com/uk/course/feline-nursing-online-learning/
